Vocal Audition:
Please prepare to sing 36 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided. Songs from the show are welcome but not required.
Dance Requirements:
There will be no dance audition at the initial audition or at callbacks. Movement will be assessed during the rehearsal process as needed.
Callbacks: Selected performers will be invited to callbacks, where they may be asked to sing selections from the show and read scenes with other actors.

Characters:
Jo March (Female | Mezzo-Soprano | 21+)
The bold, independent, and quick-witted second March sister. Jo is the protagonist and emotional heart of the story determined to become a successful author in a world that expects women to prioritize love and marriage. Fiercely loyal, imaginative, and passionate, she requires exceptional acting ability and a strong belt.
Meg March (Female | Soprano | 21+)
The eldest March sister. Warm, nurturing, and practical, Meg dreams of a loving home while balancing her romantic ideals with life’s realities. She falls in love with and marries John Brooke.
Beth March (Female | Soprano | 15+)
The gentle and selfless third March sister. Shy, compassionate, and endlessly optimistic, Beth serves as the emotional anchor of the family, always encouraging those around her with quiet strength and kindness.
Amy March (Female | Mezzo-Soprano | 15+)
The youngest March sister. Ambitious and spirited, Amy initially longs for elegance and refinement, making her somewhat vain in her youth. As she matures, she discovers her true artistic talent and develops into a thoughtful, confident young woman. Strong comedic timing is essential.
Laurie (Male | Tenor | 18+)
The boy next door whose warmth, humor, and charisma quickly endear him to the March family. Deeply and unrequitedly in love with Jo, Laurie ultimately finds love with Amy as he matures. Requires both strong acting and vocal ability.
John Brooke (Male | Baritone/Tenor | 21+)
Laurie’s devoted tutor. Honest, dependable, and reserved, John quietly falls in love with Meg and becomes a devoted husband.
Professor Bhaer (Male | Baritone | 30+)
A thoughtful German professor staying at Mrs. Kirk’s boarding house. Kind, intelligent, and gentle, he encourages Jo’s writing while offering wisdom. He eventually falls in love with her.
Marmee (Female | Mezzo-Soprano | 45+)
The loving and resilient matriarch of the March family. Compassionate, wise, and steadfast, Marmee is the family’s emotional foundation, guiding her daughters through life’s hardships with grace, courage, and unwavering love.
Aunt March (Female | Alto/Mezzo-Soprano | 50+)
The wealthy, opinionated great-aunt of the March sisters. Demanding and determined to instill proper manners, she provides much of the show’s comic relief while revealing a softer side beneath her stern exterior. Excellent comedic timing required.
Mr. Laurence (Male | Baritone | 50+)
Laurie’s grandfather and the March family’s wealthy next-door neighbor. Initially stern and aloof, he gradually reveals a deeply compassionate heart as he forms a special bond with Beth and the March sisters.
