SYNOPSIS
The Broadway sensation inspired by the hit Disney film comes to life on stage. Join Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and friends in a magical story of sisterhood, courage, and love, brought to life with stunning visuals and beloved songs audiences know and love.
ROLES AVAILABLE
ELSA
Seeking female-identifying actor to play Elsa, who is next in line for the throne and has been born with magical powers that can overwhelm her when she becomes afraid and harm others if not handled with care. Fearful of hurting anyone, especially her beloved sister, Anna, Elsa becomes anxious and withdrawn as she grows older, before eventually learning to take control of, and become confident in, her powers.
Vocal range: F#3 to D5
ANNA
Seeking female-identifying actor to play Anna, who is filled with a tremendous amount of light, energy, and love. She is a hopelessly optimistic extrovert at all ages, but as she grows older, she longs for connection with others, especially her sister, Elsa. A strong singer with great comic timing.
Vocal range: G3 to D5
KRISTOFF
Seeking male-identifying actor to play Kristoff, a hardworking ice harvester who has a sarcastic veneer and a rough-around-the-edges exterior that hides a big heart. Taken in by the Hidden Folk when he was young, he loves Pabbie and Bulda dearly, but is a bit of a loner with a reindeer for a best friend until he meets Anna.
Vocal range: G2 to A3
HANS
Seeking male-identifying actor to play the ambitious Prince of the Southern Isles and overlooked thirteenth son of a king. Hans constantly strives to find a way to make good and stand out. He boasts an exceedingly charming facade that fools everyone, including Anna and, ideally, the audience, into believing he’s Prince Charming, when really, he’s just a jerk.
Vocal range: G2 to B3
OLAF
Seeking a male-identifying actor to play the magical snowman created by Anna and Elsa when they were young. Olaf is endearingly delighted by everything, especially the idea of summer. Goofy and sweet, Olaf should possess a childlike innocence and excellent comic timing.
Vocal range: F#2 to D4
PABBIE
Seeking a male-identifying actor to play one of the mystical leaders of the Hidden Folk who has a soft spot for “strays.” Along with Bulda, these ever-benevolent parental figures want what’s best for Kristoff, even if they are a bit misguided in their efforts.
BULDA
Seeking a female-identifying actor to play one of the mystical leaders of the Hidden Folk who has a soft spot for “strays.” Along with Pabbie, these ever-benevolent parental figures want what’s best for Kristoff, even if they are a bit misguided in their efforts.
WESELTON
Seeking male-identifying actor to play a visiting duke who possesses a huge inferiority complex. A bombastic, overbearing sycophant, Weselton’s sole purpose is to hobnob with influencers and royalty.
Vocal range: F#2 to D4
BISHOP
Seeking male-identifying actor to play the bishop who officiates the coronation and passing of the crown to Elsa. This spiritual supervisor must communicate to the Townspeople of Arendelle in a serious and formal manner. Will also double in the ensemble.
KING AGNARR
Seeking male-identifying actor to play the warm-hearted ruler of Arendelle who is committed to protecting both his family and the Townspeople from his eldest daughter’s powers. Will double in the ensemble.
QUEEN IDUNA
Seeking female-identifying actor to play the queen who possesses a sense of rightness and kindness that guides her in her protection of her two young girls. A daughter of the Northern Nomads, this queen can communicate with the Hidden Folk of the mountains and therefore understands Elsa’s powers deeply. Will also double in the ensemble.
OAKEN
Seeking male-identifying actor to play an exceedingly cheerful and convivial wandering salesperson and ardent devotee to all things cozy and comfortable. Can be a cameo or will also possibly double in the ensemble.
YOUNG ELSA
Seeking female-identifying actor to play Elsa, who is next in line for the throne and has been born with magical powers that can overwhelm her when she becomes afraid and harm others if not handled with care. Fearful of hurting anyone, especially her beloved sister, Anna, Elsa becomes anxious and withdrawn as she grows older, before eventually learning to take control of, and become confident in, her powers.
Vocal range: C#5 to A3
YOUNG ANNA
Seeking female-identifying actor to play Anna, who is filled with a tremendous amount of light, energy, and love. She is a hopelessly optimistic extrovert at all ages, but as she grows older, she longs for connection with others, especially her sister, Elsa. A strong singer with great comic timing.
Vocal range: G3 to D5
ENSEMBLE
Seeking strong singers and dancers to play townspeople, Hidden Folk, snow dancers, and other various parts in the show.
ALGONQUIN YOUTH ENSEMBLE (AYE)
Here at Algonquin Arts Theatre, our produced Broadway Series performances work closely with the Education Department. This gives us an opportunity to educate students in all areas of the performing arts. Through our Performing Arts Academy (PAA), each semester (Fall-Winter, Winter-Spring & Summer) we offer a program called the Algonquin Youth Ensemble (AYE). AYE is an audition-only, comprehensive instructional, full-immersion theatre education program. The Algonquin Youth Ensemble is a class first. There is not a tuition fee to participate in this particular program. Students will be selected based on their audition alone. Not all who audition will be cast/selected for the program. Transcending the typical theatre program, AYE members not only have the opportunity to study theatrical disciplines with experienced professionals, but also must apply what they have learned in a fully mounted main stage production. This particular production is open to students in elementary and middle school. Participants commit to all production rehearsals, as needed, as well as tech rehearsals and performances.
