To the Bucks County Gilbert & Sullivan Society,
President Bob Kinney & members:
On Saturday, June 20th, I finally indulged in a dream to attend your production of ‘HMS Pinafore’, and I write now to compliment you on your performance. Your spirited vision of Gilbert & Sullivan’s classic lampoon of rigid Victorian social class set in the microcosm on a Ship of the Line both uplifted and delighted my friend Bill, my wife Allison and myself, and I hope you found as much joy performing as we felt watching. I’m sure you did, as you projected it on stage.
I’ve always found that the apotheosis of art happens when your audience channels your joy, your esprit, the passion you invest in your creation, and we certainly joined that current, sharing an intimacy of spirit that only such a talented and passionate cast can galvanize.
‘Penzance’ has always been my preferred show followed by the Mikado. I grew up with ‘Penzance’, and the Tarantula has plowed an indelible wake into my consciousness—truce to navigation, take another station. . . But after seeing your performance, ‘Pinafore’ has sailed its way to First Sea-Lord of my heart. All it took was to see it performed by a most-talented cast who lived their passion on stage.
I also compliment your professional theater support staff, who helped me deal with a ticket issue.
I wish you many good years of production.
Brava & Bravo.
Your Servant,
T. Fox Dunham
