PHILADELPHIA, October 8, 2026 – SideQuest Theater is closing out its 2026 season with Khan!!! The Musical!, a hit Star Trek parody that combines classic Trek with rollicking Broadway style. Originally developed in Philadelphia by writer Brent Black and co-collaborator Alina Roth, Khan!!! The Musical! has enjoyed acclaimed productions Off-Broadway and around the country. SideQuest is thrilled to bring a new production back to Philadelphia, coinciding with Star Trek’s 60th anniversary.
The year is 2366, and Data the android presents his musical comedy version of The Wrath of Khan on the Holodeck. A campy show-within-a-show ensues where the bloodthirsty Khan vows revenge on a washed-up James T. Kirk, and Data – portraying multiple roles – learns a thing or two about life along the way. Not just for nerds, Khan!!! The Musical! is a true love letter to Broadway seen through the lens of a mega-popular, multi-generational IP.
“I love parodies that celebrate their source material,” said director Kelsey Hébert, who previously directed SideQuest’s Fellowship! The Musical. “Khan!!! The Musical is packed with nods to your favorite musicals, and it really feels like Star Trek. The rehearsal room is filled with Trekkies and musical theatre nerds alike who are finding so much joy in marrying these two fandoms, and I can’t wait for the audience to join us!”
The cast features James Ofalt as Captain Kirk, Mykey Carpenter as Data, Brendan Conners as Spock, and Chris Newcomer as Khan. Also featured are Kim Rouse as Uhura/Carol, Keara Fernandez as Saavik, Neena Boyle as Bones/Scotty, and Arthur Robinson as Sulu/Chekov.
Aaron Jones assistant directs, and the show features musical direction by Beatrice Quinn, choreography by Dana Lee Capanna, and technical design by Dan Mosley and Alex Tallarico.
