New Jersey Community Theaters to be Honored at the 2026 NJACT Perry Awards

by Patricia Bradford

The New Jersey Association of Community Theaters (NJACT) proudly announces the 2026 NJACT Perry Awards Ceremony, celebrating the outstanding achievements of community theater artists and organizations from across the Garden State.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the historic Strand Center for the Arts in Lakewood, New Jersey. Doors open at 5:30pm, with the awards presentation beginning at 7:00pm. The evening celebrates not only this year’s nominees and award recipients, but also the remarkable work taking place on community theater stages throughout New Jersey. Performers, directors, musicians, designers, technicians, volunteers, reviewers, theater leaders, family members, and patrons will
come together to recognize another outstanding season of artistic achievement.

The Perry Awards recognize excellence in New Jersey community theater and honor the dedication, creativity, and countless volunteer hours that bring live performances to audiences throughout the state. From actors and directors to musicians, designers, technicians, and entire production teams, the awards celebrate the collaborative spirit that makes community theater thrive.

The 2025–2026 review season was one of NJACT’s most active to date. Member theaters posted 241 productions, resulting in 482 adjudicated reviews completed by NJACT’s trained volunteer reviewers. For the fifth consecutive year, every production submitted for Perry Award consideration received 100% reviewer coverage, a milestone that reflects both the organization’s commitment to a fair and consistent adjudication process and the dedication of its volunteer reviewers. The NJACT Perry Awards are the culmination of a year-long adjudication process conducted by reviewers from all over the state who attend productions at participating member theaters across New Jersey. Their thoughtful evaluations help recognize excellence while supporting NJACT’s mission of promoting artistic growth, collaboration, and a vibrant statewide community theater network.
