THE WINTER’S TALE begins and ends with reunion, punctuating a story of grief and merriment with the idea that we as people have a stubborn tendency to find our way back to one another. When a jealous king accuses his innocent wife of infidelity, his delusions bring disastrous consequences. He has only one hope for redemption: the miraculous return of his exiled daughter. In this genre-blending romance, Shakespeare confronts the healing power of time. With tears in our eyes and full-bellied laughter, the play’s journey asks us to consider how we love, how we forgive, and how we mend even the largest wounds.
