KISS ME, KATE is Cole Porter’s Tony Award–winning backstage musical comedy, blending Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew with the chaos, romance, and ego of a touring theatre company. The score features classics like “Too Darn Hot,” “So in Love,” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”

​What to Prepare
​• Auditioners should prepare a song in the style of the show – i.e. composer Cole Porter, both R & H(s), Lerner & Loewe. Prepare your best 32 bars
​• Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided. No acapella songs
​• Be prepared for a dance combination; wear appropriate footwear.
​• Bring a headshot and résumé. (Preferred)

​Rehearsal Schedule
​Rehearsals begin Monday 6/14
​And will run typically Sunday afternoons; Monday and Wednesday evenings with additional rehearsals added closer to tech week.​

Additional Notes
• This production includes dance-heavy numbers and featured vocal moments across the ensemble.
• Please note any special skills (dance, tap, acrobatics, etc.) on your résumé.
• We encourage a collaborative, respectful rehearsal environment.

Roles
All roles are open. We welcome performers of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels.
Fred Graham / Petruchio — Baritone. Commanding, charismatic leading man with comedic timing.
Lilli Vanessi / Katharine — Soprano. Strong-willed, elegant, fiery; powerhouse vocals.
Lois Lane / Bianca — Mezzo/Belter. Playful, flirtatious, comedic.
Bill Calhoun / Lucentio — Tenor. Charming, boyish, dance‑forward.
Harrison Howell — Non-singing or light singing. Distinguished, authoritative.
Gangsters (1 & 2) — Comic duo with impeccable timing; featured number.
Hattie — Mezzo. Warm, grounded, strong presence.
Paul — Baritone/Tenor. Smooth, athletic; leads “Too Darn Hot.”
Ensemble — Strong singers/dancers for both onstage and backstage worlds.
