Forge Theatre to Present THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, Jamie Wooten
Produced by arrangements with Dramatists Play Services, Inc.

The winter weather outside might be frightful, but inside Forge Theatre it’s hot, sunny, and delightful as final preparations are underway for their upcoming production of THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB. A touching comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB tells the story of five Southern women whose friendship began years ago while on their college championship swim team. Every August they set aside one long weekend and meet at the same beach cottage in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, leaving husbands, kids and jobs behind. Four of those weekends, spanning a period of thirty-three years, are the focus of The Dixie Swim Club.

Directors Linda Mandlowitz and Nance Brown have assembled a cast of top-notched actors who are challenged with the task of aging themselves physically and emotionally from their mid-forties to their mid-seventies. The “Southern Belles” include Barbara Hannevig (Sheree- practical, team captain), Bev Smith (Dinah- wise cracking, overachieving lawyer), Lauren Rozensky Flanagan (Lexi-pampered, vain, youth obsessed), Marsha Amato-Greenspan (Vernadette-self-depricating, hard luck case) and Paula Larsen (Jeri Neal- sweet, ditsy ray of sunshine).

Denise Nissle (Set Designer) and Steve Nissle (Master Carpenter,Builder) have transformed this little black box theatre into a charming beach cottage, complete with sand dune. Rounding out the Production Team are Denise Wisneski (Producer), Linda Blystone (Stage Manager), Stephanie Tagye (Costumer), Mercedes Kathryn Duran (Make Up), Lew Osterhoudt (Lighting Design), and Ron Quirk (Lights and Sound).
