A Serious Scientific Discussion: HOW TO SURVIVE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE Makes East Coast Premiere at Bootless

by Patricia Bradford

Wilmington, DE – In just a few weeks, theater patrons in the Delaware Valley will be better prepared for the inevitable downfall of man as Bootless Stageworks presents the East Coast Premiere of HOW TO SURVIVE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, an interactive “seminar” featuring the UK’s leading expert in Zombology Dr. Dale Selsick (Sean Yates) and his dedicated team of doomsday peppers from the world renowned School of Survival (Mariza Esperanza, Shamus Halloran, Sean McGuire). Seminar attendees will not only learn how to survive, but will also have a chance to discover which among them who will most likely be the “Ultimate Survivor”, winning two tickets to Bootless’s 2015 production of EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL along with all due undead fame & glory.

HOW TO SURVIVE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE was originally devised by Ben Muir and first produced by After Dark Entertainment in the UK. Since it’s sold-out premier at the Edinburg Fringe Festival in 2009 (and subsequent sell outs in 2010 and 11), the show has gone on to win several awards including Best Comedy Show at Buxton Fringe 2010, Best International Show at Hollywood Fringe in 2011, and four stars from thirteen separate sources, with reviews calling the production “Brilliantly Bizarre” (Threeweeks), “Perfect for Zombie Freaks” (Brighton Argus), “Fresh and Original” (Liverpool Echo), and “…Informative & Very Funny” (Hairline). In addition to the original How To…script, Bootless Stageworks has incorporated a full audience participation murder mystery to the one act seminar. The presentation of these two side-by-side productions are occurring in continuation of the company’s 10th Anniversary Season celebrations, paying homage to Bootless Stageworks’ earliest productions, many of which included one acts, murder mysteries and a long-standing love affair with zombies.

HOW TO SURVIVE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE runs one-weekend only from May 14th- May 16th and features cabaret seating, light fare, and a cash bar. All performances will take place in Bootless’ new home located at The Annex at St. Stephens, 1301 N. Broom St, Wilmington, DE. The venue offers free parking, full ADA access, and is within walking distance to several Trolley Square restaurants and pubs for pre-show dining and after-show drinks.
