Enjoy a Favorite Local Holiday Tradition at Mainstage’s Holiday Concert & Family Festival

by Patricia Bradford

Create treasured holiday memories at Mainstage Center for the Arts (MCA) Holiday Concert & Family Festival, December 20 and 21, Camden County College’s Dennis Flyer Theatre. Children of all ages will delight in this event, which includes visits with Santa, the opportunity to make homemade ornaments, and an uplifting concert. The show features Mainstage’s Harmony and Encore Show Choirs, along with soprano Robin Wilson; and performances by the Mainstage Dance Companies. The Saturday, December 20, concert begins at 7 p.m., while Sunday’s performance starts at 2 p.m. Doors open for festival activities one hour prior to both concerts.

“We love providing the community with this opportunity to enjoy the holidays and take a break from the hustle and bustle. Everything from the joyful music, to the decorations, visits with Santa, and ornament making gets you into the spirit of the season,” said Anne Marie Weaver, MCA director of Special Projects.

The cookie walk is a fundraiser for the Harmony Show Choir to help offset expenses for their summer 2015 tour in Hawaii. The teenage show choir members, along with their parents, bake delicious holiday cookies such as nut rolls, chocolate chips, butter cookies, crushed candy canes, and more. Volunteers display the cookies so folks can travel along the “cookie walk” filling bags to enjoy over the holidays.

The event, along with MCA’s 2014-15 season, is sponsored by Comegno Law Group, P.C.
