Imagine a society where something as simple as the color of a person’s sneakers determines whether they are accepted or rejected. In this world, wearing red sneakers is considered normal, while wearing green sneakers leads to exclusion, prejudice, and discrimination.
Through a series of short scenes set in everyday places—a gym, a restaurant, a family dinner, a church, and a movie theater—the play explores how bias can affect friendships, relationships, families, faith, and daily life. Although the story centers on “green sneakers,” they are a symbol for anyone who has ever been judged or treated differently because of who they are.
Play readings are free, but donations (suggested: $5) are gratefully accepted! We will have popcorn, coffee and soda available for purchase as well.
