Great Audience Reaction Sparks a Special Valentine’s Offer for Footlighters’ STRING OF PEARLS

by Patricia Bradford

Berwyn, PA February 12, 2015 – Michelle Lowe’s “dramedy”, STRING OF PEARLS¸ opened last weekend at the historic building at 58 Main Avenue known as Footlighters Theater. Audience reaction to the cabaret-style production was immediate. “I loved the comedy between the characters, as well as the drama, all in one scene.” “The monologues were very moving.” “I enjoyed the compatibility and chemistry among the cast.”

In honor of the Valentine’s Day weekend, Footlighters Theater is including one raffle ticket per patron for a special drawing: the winner will be presented with a beautiful strand of Freshwater Blister Pearls (donated to the theater in support of its ongoing building fund). The theater is set cabaret-style with tables and chairs available for patrons to BYO refreshments. Cheese/cracker plates, sparkling beverages and concessions will also be available for sale. Neighboring Berwyn Tavern is supporting the theater with 20% off of its “take out” menu prices for any patron presenting their prepaid ticket before the show.

Almost every woman owns a piece of jewelry that belonged to her mother or a beloved relative — a keepsake that holds sentimental value or a secret story cherished by its owner. String of Pearls explores the possibilities that open up in the lives of an array of women as they come into contact with a certain sentimental necklace, stringing together a quick-witted observation of the female experience. Four local actresses play 27 characters over 30 years, combining comedic romps, tearful episodes and melodramatic moments, sorting out problems, taking control and dealing with noticeably absent men. The pearls are a perfect symbol for these tough, distinguished women linked in their struggles.

Don’t miss your chance to get to know these entertaining and heart-warming women. Get your tickets today online at www.footlighterstheater.com! Seats/tables are first-come, first-served; doors open at 7:30pm.

Directed by Connie Giordano and produced by Kirk Paul, remaining performance dates are:
