Start date of auditions: 07/01/2021

Auditions for The Tempest by William Shakespeare will be held in two phases between now and July 1, 2021.
The production will run in late November and early December 2021 at Playcrafters of Skippack. This will be presented to a live audience and will be streamed over nine performances.

Auditioners may submit using the on-line form here: https://www.cognitoforms.com/_1880TheatricalsLLC/TheTempestAtPlaycraftersAuditionForm

All roles are open. Some of the larger roles will be cast with understudies, and swings will be appointed to cover other roles in case of illness. There will also be a corps of players who will fill out various roles.
A description of the characters can be found here: https://www.sparknotes.com/shakespeare/tempest/characters/

The first phase of the auditions will be a video performance of a monologue/soliloquy of your choice from a comedy or romance by Shakespeare. The video should show the auditioner full length. Costumes and props are neither required nor suggested. While experience with Shakespearean and Elizabethan era drama is always a plus, it is not required. This format will allow the auditioner the opportunity to present the best performance of the audition piece regardless of past experience. Don't fret the language – we'll work on that in the rehearsal process.

The deadline for video submissions is July 1, 2021 at midnight. Upload instructions will be sent to you once you have submitted the form. Once the submission period is closed, I will contact you for individual and small group audition dates, which I anticipate will be in late July. Rehearsals will begin in mid-August and will likely be two weekday evenings and one weekend day or evening.

Any questions can be directed to me at davedirects@verizon.net

Finally, Playcrafters has enacted a policy that requires that everyone involved in a live performance be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Exceptions may be granted on an individual basis, and requests should be directed to me at davedirects@verizon.net. Vaccinations are not required to audition, but should be completed by the time that rehearsals begin, and at the latest within the 21 days following the first rehearsal.
