1. one Broadway song (no pop) of your choice to be sung ‘a cappella’, accompaniment will NOT be allowed (we will give you a pitch to begin if needed).
2. one additional song to be learned as a group at the audition and performed individually with accompaniment provided. This song will not be announced in advance. No advance prep is needed.
3. dance/choro routine will be taught and performed in small groups
4. cold readings from the script
NOTE: IF CAST, ALL ACTORS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN FOOTWEAR: MEN – caramel or black jazz shoes (slip on preferred) WOMEN – pink or caramel ballet shoes.
MATTRESS – roles:
Princess Winnifred – soprano – 20’s-30’s – Strong comic acting, strong singing, solos
Lady Larkin – Soprano – 20’s-30’s, pretty, strong acting, strong singing, solos, romantic lead with ‘Harry’ Queen Aggravain– Mezzo – 45 and up – strong comic acting, good singing, solo
The following roles will be chosen from the chorus after rehearsals begin (some may be double cast): -Princess No. 12
-Ladies in Waiting
-Nightingale of Samarkand (double with above)
Minstrel – Tenor – 20 and up – strong acting, strong singing, solo
Dauntless – Tenor/Baritone – 16-30 – smaller/meek, strong acting, good singing, solo
Sir Harry – Tenor/Baritone – 20-35 – handsome, romantic lead with ‘Larkin’, strong acting, strong singing The Wizard – Baritone – 40 and up – strong acting, good singing, magic skills a plus
King Sextimus – DOES NOT SING – 45 and up, NOTE -the King is mute, requires strong comic pantomime
