COLD STUN, Town and Country Players, 02/16/2019

Show: COLD STUN
Theater: Town and Country Players
Theater Website: http://townandcountryplayers.org/index.html
Theater Phone: (215) 340-9738

Start date of auditions: 02/16/2019

Town & Country Players Theatre in Buckingham, Pennsylvania, is thrilled to announce open auditions for “Cold Stun,” a drama that will have its World Premiere on our stage. This cast will have the opportunity to work with the playwright to stage a full run of the play as part of our main season. Those cast in the show will be listed as the Debut Cast upon the publication of the play. All roles are non-Union and unpaid.

“Cold Stun” takes place on Cape Cod, where a woman from California travels east to help rescue sea turtles. Unknowingly, she stumbles into the personal drama of the Cook family. This three-act drama investigates the parallels between the natural world and our own human nature….and asks how we can ever break out of the patterns and cycles we create for ourselves.

Director Sarah LeClair and Producer Alana Caraccio are looking to fill the following roles:

CAST
Randall Cook
(lead; any race, male, late 20’s to 30’s)
A fireman and volunteer for the annual Cape Cod turtle rescue whose life is has been lived at the mercy and whim of others; a chance at a new life is suddenly within reach.

Taylor Porter Smith
(female, any race, late 20’s to 30’s – script specifies not blonde/must be willing to dye hair or wear wig if needed)
Freshly transplanted from California, a woman trying to piece together a future from the remnants of a broken past; Taylor has returned to The Cape and has also volunteered for the turtle rescues.

Erin O’Reilly Cook
(female, any race, late 20’s to 30’s – Randall’s wife)
A nurse and Randall’s soon to be ex-wife; after throwing her husband out over a year ago, Erin now regrets her choices and tries to cling to what is left of her marriage, seeing the appearance of Taylor Porter Smith as an immediate threat to any chance of reconciliation.

Marabeth Cook
(lead; any race, female, late 40’s to 60’s – Randall’s mother, who had him when she was a teen)
Randall’s long widowed and overbearing mother who awakes the morning of the first turtle stranding with an inability to speak; the woman who has something to say about everything and everyone suddenly cannot say anything; she is desperate to cling to what is left of her family in the form of her son, Randall.

About Us

StageMagazine.org

All of your theatre news in one place!

Founded by Holley Webster in 1976, STAGE Magazine began as a well-loved, paper-based newsletter that was often found in the lobbies of Philadelphia area theatres and the hands of audition-hungry actors.

Ms. Webster passed STAGE along to former Managing Editor, Ethel Guy, who kept the paper version of the magazine going strong. In 2009, Ethel graciously handed over the reins to current Digital Content Manager, Patricia Bradford, who successfully brought the publication online and eventually phased out the paper format to better conform to today's fast-paced Digital Age.

STAGE Magazine is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which continues to serve theatres in the Philadelphia region while also expanding into Florida!
