The Show Must PLAY ON at Forge Theatre!

by Patricia Bradford

Mounting a community theatre show isn’t the easiest thing in the world. PLAY ON!, Forge Theatre, Phoenixville, is Rick Abbot’s “love letter to community theatre.” It shows the audience what happens behind the scenes, with amateur actors, an undecided playwright, a problematic set, vanishing sound cues, and tech staff members who will do their jobs despite the chaos on stage. This is the journey that a group of present day community actors takes while trying to produce a mediocre mystery entitled ‘Murder Most Foul.’ The dress rehearsal is disorganized at best, but it pales in comparison to the opening night, when the director wishes she had spent the night in a bar–in another town.

In this outstanding cast Forge veteran actors Abbie Cichowski, Nancy Kadwill, Randy Knox, Julie May, Jeff Sherman, and Bev Smith are joined by Lauren Kirchner, Caitlin Monahan, McGair Valois, and Trish Cacek in her Forge debut. Marnie Herzfeld, Melanie Magolan, Linda Blystone and Brian Schwartz comprise the tech staff.

PLAY ON! runs November 2, 3, 9, 10, 11*, 16, 17, 18* (* indicates 2:00 matinee. Other shows at 8:00.). Tickets are $16.00 for adults and are available at forge theatre.org or by calling 610-935-1920. Come join us for a night of comedy!
