A Beloved Holiday Classic at The Barley Sheaf Players

by Patricia Bradford

A Charlie Brown Christmas is one of our most iconic and beloved holiday traditions. From December 7-16, the animated classic comes to life on the Barley Sheaf stage with all of the special moments and characters you know and love! Dave Richman stars as the hapless Charlie Brown, trying to find his holiday spirit and the true meaning of Christmas with the help of his philosophical friend Linus, played by Kevin Robinson, and despite the interference of his nemesis, Lucy (Bonnie Schuman) and even his dog, Snoopy (Carolyn Woods). Rounding out the cast are Karen Lammey (Sally), Edwin Soto (Pig Pen), Andrea Grinwis (Freida), Mike Harris (Schroeder), Elizabeth Wheeler (Violet), Molly Modica (Patty), and Katie Upton (Shermy).

Director Christine Robinson is a lifelong Peanuts fan, and is excited about the additions this production has made, including some two-dimensional design items (a loving nod to the original comics), a post-show sing-along, photo ops with the cast in exchange for donations to a local food bank, family-friendly curtain times, and a special sensory-friendly, relaxed matinee on December 15 (further details on the BSP website). Collaborating with Robinson are fellow staff members Lindsay Franklin (Producer), Mike Macri (Musical Director), Mercedes Duran (Assistant Director and Costumer), Allen Puy (Set Designer), Bill Duffy (Lighting Designer), and Kevin Robinson (Sound Designer).

A Charlie Brown Christmas runs Fridays, December 7 and 14 at 7:00, Saturdays and Sundays, December 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 2:00. Tickets — $17 adults, $13 students/seniors — are expected to go quickly, so reserve yours today by calling 610.363.7075 or visiting www.barleysheaf.org.
