The Dramateurs will hold auditions for their Reader’s Theater presentation of Will Eno’s play Middletown. Director Jeff Cronin is looking for a large ensemble for this October presentation.

Featuring a wide array of characters, Middletown is a deeply moving and funny new play exploring the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points beyond.

What is readers theater?
For Middletown, we’re presenting the script as a staged reading. Everyone tackles these a little differently, but for
us, it means actors will be sitting in chairs, reading from scripts as someone reads the important action to help the
audience out. We’ll have very minimal light and sound. This event is about the script and the story.

For the audition:
We’re looking for storytellers. We’ll do a series of cold readings from the script, but we’d also like to hear a story. A funny one, a poignant one, a sad one — it doesn’t matter. Bring one that means a lot to you or you tell at every Thanksgiving dinner with your family!

We are looking for all types and all ages. Actors will likely play more than one role,

Performance Dates: October 19 and 21
