The Dramateurs continue their 2018 season with the Jason Robert Brown musical “The Bridges of Madison County”. Performances begin June 8 and continue June 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 8:00 pm with a matinee performance June 10 at 2:00 pm. There is also a special talk-back session with the director, cast and crew following the Friday June 15 performance.

Based on the best-selling 1992 novel by Robert James Waller , “The Bridges of Madison County” captures the lyrical expanse of America’s heartland along with the yearning entangled in the eternal question, “What if…?” Francesca Johnson, a beautiful Italian woman who married an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy, looks forward to a rare four days alone on her Iowa farm when her family heads to the 1965 State Fair. When ruggedly handsome photographer, Robert Kincaid, pulls into her driveway seeking directions, what happens in those four days may very well alter the course of Francesca’s life.

‚ÄčThe musical received four Tony Award nominations, winning two for Best Score and Best Orchestrations for it’s composer, Jason Robert Brown, whose works include “Parade” and “The Last Five Years” among others. Brown also received two Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Music and Orchestrations for the show as well as an Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Score.
