This smart and compassionate play follows the story of Catherine, a troubled young woman whose life has been spent caring for her father, a famous mathematician. When he dies, she is forced to deal with her destructive emotions and the arrival of her estranged sister. Now, after the discovery of a mysterious notebook and a developing romance, she is forced to solve the most difficult problem yet. How much of her father’s madness, or genius, will she inherit?

AUDITION INFORMATION:

Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue for the audition. Monologue should reflect the themes of the play if possible. You will also be expected to read sides from the play (provided at audition).

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Catherine – 25 yr old. Smart but frazzled daughter of Robert, the Math genius. Has she inherited his genius and or his madness?

Robert – 50’s Mathematical genius, Recently deceased. Plagued by mental illness.

Claire 29 Practical Older sister of Catherine. Left family to live successful life in NYC.

Hal – 28 – Roberts protege. Ambitious young professor.
