SYNOPSIS:
CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION In the small town of Shirley, Vermont, five strangers gather in a dance studio to embark on a unique journey together in a creative drama class for adults. Taught by Marty, their free-spirited and supportive leader, the group — move through a series of acting exercises, ranging from the heartbreaking to the ridiculous. In this one small room, through these few seemingly trivial games, quiet wars are waged, emotional wounds are nursed, and healing is finally, slowly, able to begin. In Annie Baker’s quiet masterpiece, CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION, the audience takes a transcendent journey through the mundane into the profound.

Performance Dates:
Fridays & Saturdays, January 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, & 27, 2018 at 8 pm
Sundays, January 21 & 28, 2018 at 2 pm
*Additional performances may be added.

ROLES
SCHULTZ (40-50): At the age of 48, Schultz finds himself unhappily alone after his recent divorce from his wife of many years. He works primarily as a carpenter and makes chairs in his spare time.

JAMES (55-65): He is 60 years old and married to Marty. He has an estranged daughter from a previous marriage whom he attempts to contact throughout the play.

MARTY: THE ROLE OF MARTY HAS BEEN PRECAST.

LAUREN (15-25): Must look like a teenager Sixteen years old. Lauren is the youngest student in Marty’s class. She is in high school and is figuring out what she wants to do with her life. She is considering becoming a professional actress, so she is disappointed when she realizes the acting class is only going to be theater games and not scene work.

THERESA (30-40): At the age of 35, she’s recently moved to Vermont from New York City after ending a toxic relationship. She is an actress and is also studying acupressure.

IMPORTANT:

• Please wear clothes for movement, floor work and fun. (You will be lying on the floor and also sitting cross legged).
• A monologue will be provided by the director.
• Please bring 2 headshots and resumes.

Historic Old Academy Players, a member of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community theater in East Falls ( Philadelphia ), the urban village on the Schuylkill River. Constructed in 1819, the Old Academy building has been the OAP home since 1932. Old Academy Players, providing continuous community theater since 1923, featured the acting debuts of both Grace Kelly and Robert Prosky.

Patricia Bradford holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She has performed, directed and produced theatre throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Ms. Bradford is founder and Managing Artistic Director of Bare Stage Theatre. Leading STAGE Magazine has become a consuming passion - one which combines her many artistic skills, theatrical contacts and administrative abilities.
