Forge Theatre Announces: OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS

by Patricia Bradford

Forge Theatre, recently named Best Theatre in the Western burbs, continues its 55th Season with its January 2017 production of OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS, by Joe DiPietro.

OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS is a rollicking family comedy/drama with a lot of heart. At its core, it’s a show about powerful familial bonds and traditions and how they are affected by change. The characters are beautifully drawn and the character relationships are rich with humor, love, devotion, history and caring.

This ode to family, especially grandparents, takes place in northern New Jersey where Nick sees both sets of his Italian-American grandparents every Sunday for dinner. This time, however, is different. He has to tell them he has been offered a promotion requiring him to move to Seattle. They are torn between joy and a sense of loss. What could they do to entice him to stay? As the story unfolds, their endearing personalities will take audiences on a journey of laughter and tears – a journey felt by all families when the time comes to let go.

OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS is directed by Hal Holzer and produced by Denise Wisneski. The talented veteran cast features Tom Cappelli, Dani Moore, Dan Gudema, Bev Smith, Vincent Reale and Mimi Brown.

Forge Theatre is located at 241 First Ave. in Phoenixville, PA 19460. We ask that all patrons honor our good neighbor policy by not parking in front of our neighbors homes on First Ave.
