The Ghostlight Players (Victoria Blackbox Theatre at Archbishop Ryan High, 11201 Academy Rd.), The Ghostlight Players present FORBIDDEN BROADWAY’S GREATEST HITS. Friday, October 23 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, October 24 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, October 25 at 2:00 pm. General Admission: $15, Senior/Children: $12.

It’s been a common mindset that to see a musical, anyone living in the Northeast Section of Philadelphia must venture downtown, fight traffic and struggle to find parking. This problem has now been rendered obsolete.

Welcome The Ghostlight Players, a recognized 501©3 non-profit theatre arts organization, to their new home at Archbishop Ryan High School. FORBIDDEN BROADWAY’S GREATEST HITS will be their first musical to open at the Victoria Black Box Theatre at Archbishop Ryan after a very busy summer submitting their non-profit application for approval by federal and state agencies, and also debuting their first dramatic play in the area. With a new home stage and recognized non-profit status to help raise production funds, Ghostlight is ready to shorten the travel time to musicals for Northeast Philly residents.

The hit show, which the New York Post deemed “”Gut-bustingly funny! It’s a Forbidden pleasure” during its Broadway run, takes stabs at well-known musicals, and it’s ripe with imitations of beloved stars. Conceived by Gerard Alessandrini in the early 1980s, this show is designed to be a satirical, cabaret style review. Alessandrini has rewritten the show numerous times over the years parodying Broadway musicals. The show combines the funniest and most well-known moments from the show. Laugh out loud as the cast parodies selections from Annie, Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Cats and many more moments from the Great White Way.

Directed by Ed Flores Jr., choreographed by Nicole Mesiano and musically directed by Vince DiFrancesco Jr., this production features an outstanding cast of returning talents as well as some new faces.
