CAUGHT IN THE NET: Timely Farce about Family and Marital Infidelity at T&C

by Patricia Bradford

Buckingham, PA – A comedy about bigamy and family hits the stage at Town and Country Players this fall. CAUGHT IN THE NET by Ray Cooney gives comedic insight into family marital infidelity.

In this British farce, John Smith (Stuart Myles) has two happy families in different parts of London. They are blissfully unaware of each other until his teenage children meet online. John’s son from one family (Trevor DuBose) and his daughter from the other family (Teva Skovronek) fall in love and are anxious to meet in person since they have so much in common: name, surname and taxi driving dad! This nightmare scenario threatens to ruin John’s life. Not only does he have to struggle to keep his kids apart but he also has to work extra hard to keep the truth from his two wives (Susan Fowler and Marissa Sammit). The slapstick comedy escalates as John’s situation spirals out of control.

Director, Keith Soester, really loves the comedy of this play. The near-miss entrances and exits will have audiences laughing out-of-control as they find themselves rooting for the morally questionable John.

Producer, Sharon Rill-Soester, says “this is a really funny play and a timely story that people will enjoy very much.”

CAUGHT IN THE NET plays September 18, 19, 25, 26, and October 2 and 3 at 8:00 pm with matinee performances on September 20, 27 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $17 and are available through T&C’s website, www.townandcountryplayers.org or by calling 800-838-3006. This show is not recommended for children under the age of 12 due to mature themes.
