The family musical plays at the Gratz College Theater, 7605 Old York Rd, Melrose Park, PA. from July 7 to July 18. Tickets are $12 for children and $14 for adults. For reservations or more information call: 215-659-8550 or www.storybookmusical.org.

This popular fairy tale about the challenges of growing up and adjusting to a new world was adapted by Storybook Artistic Director, Patricia Goldberg, with music by composer Kevin Arruda.

PINOCCHIO tells the story of our young hero as he is transformed from a clumsy, wooden puppet to a young man after learning the importance of caring for people. Along the way he encounters some misadventures with a sly fox and cat, a conniving carnival owner and a giant whale. Hopefully a little Blue Fairy dust will help him achieve his goals and set him straight.

P.J. Schweizer, of Doylestown, PA, plays the role of the mischievous wooden puppet, Pinocchio. He last appeared on our stage in the World Premiere of Adventures in Toyland. Corbin Abernathy, of Mt. Airy, plays the long suffering Geppetto. Abernathy appeared earlier this season in The Frog Prince. David Mulholland, of Bristol, PA., plays the sly fox who tries to distract Pinocchio from going to school. Mulholland, a Storybook regular, last appeared as the King in The Frog Prince. Faith Sherman, of Doylestown, PA., plays the fox’s sidekick Katrina the Cat. Sherman was last seen in Storybook’s Robin Hood. Peter Andrew Danzig, of Center-City, plays the mean carnival owner. This is Danzig’s first show with Storybook. The Blue Fairy, who guides Pinocchio on his journey to boyhood will played by both a puppet and Sarah Gafgen, of South Philadelphia. This is also Sarah’s first appearance with Storybook.

Show times are Tuesday through Fridays at 10:30 am and Saturdays at 11:00 am. Call for available times. Children’s tickets are $12.00; Adults are $14.00 with generous camp/group discounts available.

All Storybook productions are appropriate for children age three and older. After each performance children will have an opportunity to meet the actors for handshakes, pictures, or an autograph.
