ELF, JR.: A Cast of Thousands at Moorestown Theater Company

by Dennis Bloh

Moorestown Theater Company presents the East Coast premiere of ELF, JR., the abridged version of the Christmas themed Broadway show based on the movie Elf starring Will Ferrell. The script allows the show to be performed by young actors for young audiences. Director Mark Morgan has accumulated not just one, but two large casts of young performers to entertain his loyal audiences. Last Saturday I viewed the “Gold” cast.

The young actors exhibited unbridled enthusiasm as they sang and danced their way through the shortened script. Danny Pizzi as Buddy the elf carries much of the show. What he lacks in the physical presence needed for the role, he makes up in energy. Rachel Ricci (Mrs. Hobbs) and Alex Zambrano (Michael Hobbs) distinguish themselves in their moments in the show. Other performance of note are the Carolers and Samantha Riley as Jovie.

If you are in the area near Moorestown and looking for a fun evening for the family, there are four more performances at the Moorestown Upper Elementary School. For information call 856 – 778 – 8357
